We are seeking two qualified candidates (one field crew leader and one technician) to assist with a study of the nesting ecology of seaside and coastal plain swamp sparrows. This is a joint research project between the University of Delaware and the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center.
Duties include daily nest searching, identifying color bands, territory mapping, banding adults and nestlings, vegetation analysis, and daily data entering. The field crew leader will oversee the technician and one intern and have additional duties including daily data organization, equipment management, and organization of daily work schedule.
The position starts at the beginning of May and will end mid-August, 2008.
Pay is commensurate with experience. Housing provided for duration of field season.
The research sites are located in tidal marshes at Woodland Beach State Wildlife Area, Kent County, Delaware. This area is critical habitat for wildlife, and hosts waterfowl, shorebirds, and neotropical songbirds.
